Want to thank everyone again for the help I've received on this forum.

I picked up a voice gig doing a recorded phone greeting for a company. I'd like to know if there is a way to play back a recorded session from CEP through a phone line to be recorded on the client's phone system.

Thanks
Drew

Nope, I know of nothing other than holding the phone up to a speaker but then, I'm sure that would sound horrible.

If the wav file is not too large, perhaps you could zip it up and email it to them. They should be able to play it back on any modern computer with Media Player.

Anyone else got a better idea?

It seems like Recording Magazine http://www.recordingmag.com/ did a feature on this a while back. You might email them and see if they have a back issue available (they don't seem to post such things on the website).

Thanks

Appreciate the links. Turns out this "client" is bogus. Seems he was fishing for quotes. He picked me from a fairly large number "talents" who answered a lead he posted on Voice123. He failed to reply after telling me I was his pick for the job. Now he's posting for more auditions, using my quote as his benchmark. Sheet! It's only a $30 gig, hardly worth too much effort on my part. But I couldn't help dashing off a quick email to him letting him know just what a prick he is.

phone recording

hi there !!! U mite wanna try the old "ads on hold' technique consisting of an old ghetto blaster with the right phone line adapters to go from 1 of the outputs or line out from it, U can use a 'endless tape" (cassette that loops) for ur voice over or song,,,, normally works well on a 'commander' style phone system found in most office's.... good luck and i hope it has given u an idea if ur confronted with this situation again!

héhéhé,
i got this old mixer laying in my closet; a 12 channel JB mixer (made in belgium....jezus. ..) and it comes from a radio station,

it has telephone in and outputs, and buttons to mix it with your music and stuff, i never tested it, cause i just don't want to,,

but maybe you can start looking around for a cheap, obsolete radiostation mixer with telephone input support or so

i'm selling mine for real cheap cause i wanna get rid of it, but i' msure you can find some better and smaller ones;...

Here's a link that explains a lot regarding 'phone patches'.

Because of impedence issues between audio equipment and telephone equipment, you'll need a device to match things up. Basically, there are couplers that offer either send or receive capabilities, but not both. Hybrids do offer both.

If you're doing voice work (I am assuming since you're on voice123), you can usually find Gentner sph-3's or some Comrex hybrids on eBay. I picked up a used Gentner. It's very easy to plug into your board. The only gotcha is if you want to let the client listen to you as you do your session, then allow them to direct you over the phone, you'll need a mixing board that allows you to monitor a solo/cue channel that is seperate from your voice channel so the client's comment don't make it to the mix.

Not entirely the answer to the original question, but http://s2.yousendit.com/ offers a service which assists in sending large files from one person to another - ones too big for ordinary email. Apparently it's free. (Trouble is, did I see it here in the first place?! Sorry if it's repeat info....).
