There is a song that I would like record myself playing along with on my sax, but the only thing is there is currently a voice singing the melody. Is there a way to take the voice out, thus just leaving the background music? I have searched for a track to buy, but no success.

There is a polarity technique that can be used to remove any audio from the center of a stereo track, but how well it works depends entirely on how the track was mixed. In a majority of cases, you lose kick, snare, bass and main vocals to a variety of degrees depending on the mix elements/effects in the song.

plus, if there is any reverb on the vocal...you'll probably still get that in the mix

damn vocalists...always gettin' in the way of us horn players :p

PG Music makes a product called Copy Scat for vocal practice that supposedly does this. I don't know how well it works, but it's $49 and there is a 30 day money back guarantee. You can check it out here

They don't work :(. Clicked on the exe file and nothing pops up. Had you had any success with it?

I just downloaded them again, and the setup program starts fine for me. They do what they are supposed to do, but how good it sounds really depends entirely on how the song was mixed.

well if its in the center of the beat and you have a good ear... i usually take a beat if theres just 1 loop worth and reloop it over and over but make sure its perfect... then use Fruity Loops and add in the bass snare and kick that the beat lost :)
