Is there a difference between recording open and closed back cabs?

I have a 1x12 open back Avatar cab with a Vintage 30. Someone suggested me to make it a closed back. I agree that this would make a difference for live sound, but it made me wonder about recording.

I always use an SM57 to mic the guitar cab. Would converting to closed back change the sound of my recorded guitar tracks any?

I have noticed a big difference between closed and open cabs with recording, closed cabs have given me a more tight sharp sound and the open cabs have given me a more airy less sharp sound. I have also put a mic on the front speaker and a mic on the back of the speaker on one of my open back cabs, then put one mic on the left side and one on the right side in the mix.
