Is the pentium 4 Northwood still the preferred processor for recording?

I thinking of building my own computer for recording. While I would like to purchase the new Mac G5, I'm probably going go with a Pentium to save cost, as I already own a lot of pc software, and soundcard, etc. Is the Northwood still the superior intel processor? I haven't been able to find it on Intel's website. Any info would be appreciated.

if you've got deep pockets go mac, if you like puff and fluff go intel, if you want to save money go amd...

they all work, it's just preference today really, humm, mac is getting more software everyday, but nothing near what a winblows system does...

don't expect much info help from inhell, there to busy selling to help there users

amd does anything intel does just cheaper...

mac was the bomb a few years back, old news now though...
