Is the Mix Muddy?

Yes, that's way better, the snare is back to normal tonally, and centered in the mix.

I think there is a little less mud then previous mixes, but that wasn't what was bothering me about the mix initially, it was more the left right balance.

I was worried I was getting a bit too knit picky here, but hopefully I'm helping and not hindering!

It’s great feedback thanks

I think I'm going to go with that latest one as the final mix. Thanks a ton, Eric. Your very persistent and specific feedback made the mix a lot better IMO.

You're very welcome, happy to help out. You have a very evocative song here, and that takes a lot of talent.

This is the final mix btw. I did wind up lowering the snare just 1db because it was bugging me. Lol I also turned up the right organ a hair just using headphones to balance it with the acoustic. Otherwise it's the same. If this changed anything let me know before I print it next week.

Late to the discussion, but the mix definitely improved throughout its various iterations. I like the guitar and organ separated. The volumes of each are appropriate. None of the mixes were muddy and the vocals sit where they need to. Sounded good both on lap top speakers and ear buds. Someone suggested a little something more on the top end, but not sure what that would look like -- added percussion, more air on the back-up vocals, organ in a higher register. I think you should sit tight with what you have.

Awesome thanks for that detailed feedback.

I think it sounds good Nola, raising the organ a tiny bit was a good move.

Print away!

Hey Eric, does the snare sound better/centered now and is the overall L/R balance better?
I had a good time listening to this one. There's a drum to the left (kick?), yes, but it doesn't distract, I suppose, but would I like it closer to the center? Yes. The guitar left and the keys right fill the wings nicely.

Lou Reed, Neil Young. That's the quadrant this one lives in.

Good tune.

You have a really good ear. I did add a bit more compression and turned it down a few DB. I can just reverse that if this is worse, but the balance seemed better? I'm not sure why it's slightly left or if I can do much better. This is with it pushed a little more right and a few DB higher. I think the "mud" was something in the overheads. This seems less muddy to my ear as I turned down one of the overheads.
Yeah, the balance is better on this one. Good work.

You could fade that oscillating guitar at the end all the way to the end, instead of truncating. That's how closely I listened lol.

Thanks a ton, Dobro. Given my avatar is Lou Reed yeah I love VU (and Neil).

Thanks all. Super helpful. I think the mix is like 5x better after all the help.
Here is the final drop:
