Is the M-Audio Firewire Solo like a direct box or what?

Have my guitar plugged into the firewire solo, but I can only play through my monitor speakers using Amplitube. I cant record. Is this all I need, or what?
 
Oops, meant to add that the M-Audio box and your recording software should be enough.

Do you have amplitube set up as a VST or Direct X plugin? If so you can just load that up in Cubase and play directly in there, then record exactly what you hear from there on.
 
well when you install amplitube it tells you if you want to install the direct x and vst versions of it as well. Then when you open up cubase, there should be an effects menu that lets you search for its vst effects. If it's not there, then you might have to find the amplitube vst folder and put it into steinberg cubase vst folder if it has one. Or maybe cubase has an options menu that lets you search for vst's?
