Is the Boss BR-8 good enough?

Sabres, the BR-8 is very good at doing what it says it will do. As long as you don't mind piecing your songs toegether part by part, you should be fine. Remember, you can only record two tracks at a time, but you can play all 8 back for mixdown. And while they do advertise 64 Virtual Tracks, the space limitations of the Zip pretty much ensure that you'll never use anywhere near all the V-tracks.

All nit-picking aside, I've been able to get some really great completed songs out of the BR-8.

All the songs on the Merry Cherry site (www.mp3.com/merrycherry) were recorded using the BR-8. Songs like "What I See" and "Superstar" have some serious panning going on, especially with the drums.

For the price, sound, and features, I don't think you can get a better machine. The on-baord effects are highly useful as well.
