is my sm57 broken?

hey guys I just got my sm57 but I've noticed that the black part on top of the mic turns and it also turn the metal grill that you speak into. Is it supposed to do that? Or did I get a broken one?

Nope, that's how they are. Some folks have reported hearing a little rattle from that when used on loud drums. Some folks have used hot glue to make it solid. That's not usually necessary.
