Hey folks, I'm slowly adding to my homerec collection and today I received my first Bass guitar :)

I'm just wondering if yall could have a listen to a short clip of me playing 3 notes (I think it was G on the low E, D and C on the A string). I plugged directly into my OMNI studio and never changed any of the EQ settings on the guitar. Please don't laugh its my first day playing bass haha

Anyways what I'm mainly concerned with is
1. I know I really have to work on my technique, but is there potential with just the preamps on my OMNI Studio (mp2 I think they are) to get good sounding bass tracks ? I'm interested in many styles.. rock, rap, jazz, funk..anything really

The clips can be found at http://members.shaw.ca/jpsawatsky

Thanks

went to that link and clicked WAV and MP3 and both showed file not found.....

anywho, the Omni pres are capable of getting a decent sound.......

Stupid me I should've checked that before hand... fixed it up now :)

Yes the pres seem to work great for vocals, but I'm not experienced with bass at all.. It sounds like it'll be ok for some stuff but I don't know if I can get that fat deep bass or really punchy sounds .. ya know what i mean ?

I know what you mean......a good compressor and direct box would help you get that kinda tone......

also, alot of the sound you get will be in the fingers/technique......practice,practice,practice.......

I think I have the compressor part covered, at least with software ones (waves) .. I'll look into these Direct boxes you speak of
thanks
