Is my old MobilePre something that should be upgraded?

Hi,

First post, been reading the forms for a few days.

I have been recording for a year or so now with pro tools 10, a a bluebird large diaphragm condenser, a small diaphragm condenser and some some DIY acoustic panels

Now when it comes to my interface I have a mobilepre (I think it is at least 10 years old)

Could this be affecting my sound at all? I used it only because I have it lying around when building my little studio. Would be nice if it had more inputs too but would upgrading to a new M-Audio or Line 6 interface be better sound wise?

Thanks!

Brian

Maybe a little ..... Depends on the specs of the one you got now.

80% is the mic and 20% is the mic pre+pre-processing. btw focusrite built those mic pres in that perticular unit. It would be downgrading or sidegrading. now if your serious about more channels go the next step up with like a SSL Alpha madi inteface-card and that away you can use any mic pre you want and expandibility.

Thanks for the replies! I think I will stay with the Mobile Pre for now.
