Is it possible to record 8 tracks simoltaneously? I have a tascam 388. If it is not can i only do four simoltaneously? I tried searching, but found nothing. Thanks.

ok.....

Ok, now i just need to know how. I use the assign buttons and it records whatever i have plugged into channel one, coming out on both channels one and two (if i select both 1 and 2 on the recording buttons) Maybe walk me through it reel quick, or tell me what page in the manual? Thanks a ton.

Ok lets say your mic is plugged into channel 1 and you want to record on track one. On that channel you would have to pan the fader for channel one to the left. so that it only goes to track one. Then if you are going to record a differant mic two track two from channel two of the mixer you would pan that channel to the right.
Remember pan left will put the mic on the odd channels and if you pan it right it will go to the even channels.
Hope that all makes sense

It is set up that way so if you want you can assign 4 mic channels or even all 8 to just one track on the recorder.

Thanks

Hey it worked, it is really easy, a very usefull tool. I always wondered why there was two faders...DUH. Thanks again

One fader for each track :)

The assign buttons are grouped in odd/even pairs for convenience. In order to record on a particular track you have to make use not only of the appropriate assign and record ready buttons, but also the pan control and the PGM master faders (pan left and use PGM master left for tracks 1, 3, 5 and 7. Pan right and use PGM master right for 2, 4, 6 and 8).
