I have a problem

I got a copy of vegas pro with my delta 1010. I deleted it when I started using logic. Now I want to go back to vegas, but my CD got broken.

Would it be illegal for me to download a warez version, knowing that I already had the full version before?

did you have a warranty? Call the company if you do. Maybe they can replace it?....Also, many of the warez versions online are missing essential pieces of programs. Besides not being legal, wouldn't it suck if you recorded a whole song and then tried to mix down and couldn't.

Ethically no. The problem however is finding either a CD image or an untouched installation from which you can recreate your disk, assuming you have all the necessary CD codes. In this case, it would technically be illegal for you to download and install the illegal copy, but perhaps just over the line into legal range when you use the software, because when you are using software you are excerising a license that is not tied to any specific media.

I would just contact sonic foundry. You can probably get replacement media for $20 or less I'm guessing. Note, if you download a cracked version of vegas, which is what most of them are on the net, you won't be able to update it or any of that jazz. Plus it would be both technically and ethically illegal to use it.

Slack is right. You can download the program for free from their site and use your codes to activate it, or pay them for a physical copy to be mailed to you.
