Is it even a real guitar?

I am currently restoring the first guitar I ever owned. It's kind of fun, and I've learned a lot about guitars in general since I started ripping it apart.

It's a Samick :( and my questions is, does this company even exist anymore? I can't find any record of Samick even existing anywhere on the internet. I thought I'd try and find out a little history on it, but no such luck.

Really? Google gave me 708,000 webpages for Samick. 5 out of the first 6 were Samick Music Corp.

ps-Samick is a huge guitar maker, I think the biggest in the world. They have made lots of budget and nice stuff.

I love my samick It was my first electric. But now it sits in my stand a sad sight :(

I thrashed it when I was about 14 because I was boared I took it appart and broke some things on it now I need to re-solder the input jack fix the volume pot,put on volume knobs, screw in more screws (missing in action).

But its I nice guitar I know its not the best but that's why I bought my yamaha and me led (also I know not the best but the ltd's got emg 81/85 and I got dimazios in the yamaha so they sound nice)

Where was I...Oh yes samick does exist that or I'm in the matrix or some bullshit like that.

...I really went nowhere with this :D

:D

One for the road :D

Not only do they exist

but they also make a lot, if not most, of the low-end guitars & basses for other major companies. But they also do still have their own brand, as well as the Greg Bennett brand.

so, what exactly did you use as a search term?

Samick is a real corporation. In addition to making guitars they also make some of the world's best competition archery bows. I've got a Samick SG, it has to be the worst out of balance guitar I have ever owned, not to mention that the body cracked when it was about 6 months old.

Samick makes nearly every guitar under $700 in the world. If it is made in Korea, it was made at the Samick plant.

I did a little horse trading a few months ago and came up with a Samick Artist Pro SAT 650. I have quite a few nice guitars and I must say, this is pretty much my favorite guitar right now. Worth every penny I paid for it (it was more of less free).

WTF? I musta spelled it wrong or something. I'm going to check it out now.

This Samick is actually a pretty great guitar. That's why I'm restoring it. Back in the day I thought it sucked because it was so cheap but now that I've played many guitars, it wasn't bad.

According to the Samick page I read a while back, they no longer manufacture guitars in Korea subsequent to some big management shakeup. The company is still Korean, but the guitars are manufactured elsewhere with cheaper labor.

Cor-Tek ("Cort") still manufactures contract guitars in Korea (notably for FMIC) and had about 25% market share even when Samick was making Korean product.
