cuz i don't have any multitrack software. i'm using cool edit 2000, but it only has 4 tracks.

cubasis comes free with the Echo Mia card. so i want to buy that card. i feel the mia has an advantage over the m-audio audiophile just on this free mulititrack software. i have an onboard sound card i could use midi for.

what do you guys think?

thanks

Well, i've been tinkering around with Cubase VST (the big brother to Cubasis VST), and I like it a lot. Cubase has way more features than the hobbyist would need, and if you're just getting started, Cubasis would be perfect. It's quite an upgrade from CoolEdit, that's for sure. It gets my stamp of approval. for whatever that's worth.

I love it, but it's got a learning curve. Interface shows it's roots as an Atari sequencer.

Hang on to Cool Edit, too. Wave editing probably better in there. I use Sound Forge rather than Cubase.

You might not be able to use both soundcards - I could never get my SBLive to do anything with my Delta66, so I finally just disabled it.

Good luck.
