...the Roland R-5 Human Rhythm Composer (c.1989)?

I bought one from E-bay today in good condition for a fair price but it is manual-less.

The Roland US, UK, and Australian web sites are worthless.

I'd pay a fair price for a copy of a manual and shipping.

Thanks for the tip. I've already got him bookmarked and I've been in contact with him. He has the manual for my unit.

I had a TR-707 nailed down until the last 30 minutes of the auction and then someone out bid me. Ignoring the seller's instructions that there would be no overseas bids, and I e-mailed the seller to alert him to this, but he did not get the e-mail BEOA.

He offered it to me at my highest bid, but I declined as I had purchased the Roland R-5 on the "'Buy it Now" option before he was able to contact me.

It kind of sucked all the way around. I think I got a more versitile
machine whith the R-5, but it only has four independant out's compared to the TR-707 with ten independant outs.

I figured if I could get a separate mix on the snare, kick, HH, and toms or overheads, I'd be OK though. I gotta have a manual with this one. The TR- series I can work with a blindfold on, but not the R-5 or R-8.

Thanks again for your reply.

Sennheiser,

Thats cool everything worked out.:) (with the manual not the e-bay sale)

At least having 4 outs gives you more control than 2.

I recently picked up a TD-6 v-Drum module and a edrum kit, so i could either use my DR-5 to program drum parts or play the kit live.

The TD-6 only has 2 audio outs, so i record in midi, seperate the full kit into individual tracks, then play each part back seperatly to convert them to audio.

WHAT A PAIN IN THE ASS!!!

I should have spent more dough and bought a better module with more outs, but It's hard to justify the money because.............I DONT EVEN PLAY DRUMS  . hehehe.

Anyways have fun with yer new gear.

I haven't played a drum kit in 20 years. The wives (2) didn't think too highly of drummers.

I don't have that problem any more, but space is at a premium, and like I said above...

This R-5 unit is supposed to be the little brother to the R-8 unit. Those R-8's are selling on E-bay for about two thirds what they were selling for new. The norm is about 20% for drum machines.
Unless it's a TR-909.

I know it's old, but the R-5 will be a lot better than what I'm using now. I started with a TR-505 in 1984 or 1985, I'm too old to remember that shit now. But I liked the drum sounds. I always thought Roland had decent drum sound on their machines,

A hell of a lot better than Yamaha and Korg at the time.

Tthanks.
