I dont have any direct experience with madison speakers, but thier web site has a lot of info and specs on the components used in their speakers. i have been to steelsound.com where they sell all of these components and it seems like a pretty good deal. build the cabs yourself and just buy the components seperatly. i just built 2 cerwin vega 18" folded horn subs and used the accesories from steelsound to finish them off. for cab building designs and plans just check out speakerbuilding sites on the net.

A 500W sub is pretty wimpy for anything more then a home theater. Usually 1000W would be the minimum for a live rig.

Madison Speakers

Our band uses the Madison MAS-183d's (except our don't down fire) that Andy Hitch (Madison Owner) built and beefed up to 1000wt rms/2000wt peak and we use the MAS-2123's 2x12's for our mains. All run thru their PA-A203 amps (Subs bridged/Mains stereo). The bassists uses their 4x10 bass cab and is getting an 18" lower cab built as we speak. The guitarist use the Solace 2x12 Chorus and the other uses Divinity 12. We love the gear, sounds great even at our outside shows and Andy takes great care of use. His other company, Legion Sound, http://www.legionsound.com, speakers, you basically get what you pay for. Nothing spectacular. But their effects and boards are what we use. We use the LS 2/3 xover and Dual 15 eq on our pa rig, all off the CW-5024 passive mixer on an LS 24 channel/100' snake. The mixer is not mackie, but for the cost, we can buy 3 of them for the road that we would spend on a mackie that style.
