is acid music studio 7..useful to singers??

ive been thinking about buying this daw and i sing ive heard from alot of ppl that want to produce it is a good product but is it good for a singer who wants to record their own music from home?? help

Memories, that was the first DAW I used. It is decent, but have a look at the Reaper forum. Also, if you are looking to buy equipment like an interface, a lot of them will come with some sort of DAW software.

Sorry to subvert the original question from the OP, but when, exactly, did "DAW" become software?

Back when I was a lad, a DAW was the standalone thingy, or the combination of your PC, sound card, interface, mixer and software... now everyone seems to refer to software alone as a DAW.

Where's the station?

I want dates, damnit! Exact dates....

I feel like software likes to advertise as being a DAW, so newbs think that is what a DAW is.

I remember coming in here and referring to software as a DAW and feeling really stupid afterwards.

Actually, I just checked out the websites for some software "DAW"'s and didn't find any usage of that acronym... So I have no idea where I got it from.

Ooh! I got a new idea. The software is labeled as "DAW software" because it is software to be used for your DAW... However, that sounds like the software is known as a DAW.

The definition according to PC magazine.
(Digital Audio Workstation) Software running on a Mac or Windows computer that is used by professional sound engineers to record and mix digital audio tracks. A DAW is used to combine dialogue, music and special effects such as reverberation and delay. Many of the features of high-end audio editing software can be provided with open source software (see sound editor). See MDM.


Another definition.

A digital audio workstation (DAW) is a computer that is specially equipped with a high-quality sound card and programming for editing and processing digital audio at a professional level. Digital audio workstations can range from a simple two-channel editor to a complete digital recording studio suite.

So. Is a computer a DAW? No. Is a sound card a DAW? No Is DAW software a DAW? Yes, more so than the other two by themselves. But I think we can agree that you cannot have a daw without all 3. There are some hardware solutions by Roland, Korg and others which would actually fit the term and only be hardware. But, the term DAW software, Digital Audio workstation software is valid, it takes and ordinary PC and sound card and turns it into a DAW. I think it was Yamaha to come out with the first hardware music computer but far from a DAW.

And the date? 13 September 1999, the same day moon base alpha along with our moon left orbit of our planet.

I had this software, I did not use it much because I did not like taking music made by others, combining it and calling it my own. BUT after saying that, If I could not play an instrument and still wanted to sing and be creative and write my own songs using others loops, sure I would do it and it would be good tool.

It is not bundled with sound cards, try to find some musicians who owned this software, the important part is the loop library because you should be a ble to play it in FL Studio, Reason or other Daw software. Maybe someone will give it to you or sell it cheap.

Or look on craigslist for deals in your area like this one in mine.

One thing I didn't like about Acid Studio (I used ver 7) was that you couldn't input monitor. This meant that I could not listen to what I recorded as I recorded it.

So if you used any effects like an amp sim on a guitar for example, you could only hear the dry guitar (no effects) while recording. You only heard the effects on playback.

This may not be such a big deal for vocals, but it means you can't wear headphones and listen to yourself as you record. Some vocalists like some reverb or similar on the vocal to help them track.
