I have a gina which supports 24 bit and I'm considering upgrading my cubase vst score to cubase 24. Is it worth it though, especially when considering that when it comes to burning the cd that it all gets converted back to 44khz/16bit ? I'm wondering if it works as the film to video transition does. ie If you record in 16 bit , it simply wont record certain detail, whereas if you record in 24 bit and still after the sample conversion come mastering to 16 bit means that some of that detail remains? Any feedback appreciated.

I was told one of the main benefits of 24bit is when it comes to the mixdown. You are able to keep your signals at a higher level than if they were 16bit which will give you a better signal to noise ratio on that final mix, plus you start out with that initial 24bit clarity.

thanks for the tip. Looks lke I better start saving for the upgrade.
