Just listened to the remix,
The right git sounds much better. I'm still wanting the retracking things concerning the drum/cymbal push on the verse breaks and the things we mulled over on the vocals.
I really think if you have a stronger vox signal ,and a hotter headphone mix when cutting the vox, will work wonders for the vox track.
Let the mic do it's job...I.E. pick up you vocals. It sounds like you're working too hard to compensate and it is throwing off your pitch. I'd even try putting a pre track limiter on the vox, get close and let the emotion and inflection out easy.
Fight the demons inside, not the headphone mix.
I know these comments are overlapping my original thoughts but, I can somehow relate to why the vocals sound strained and I know that it is NOT your singing limitations that make it sound so.
Very cool tune,
Wish I had a band to jam with........have fun with all you do.
Peace,
THeron.
