Hey gang. I'm Benjamin

New to the boards here. Just thought I'd say hi.

About me:

Currently attending Shoreline Community College in Washington State for Audio Engineering. It's as fine and noble a profession as any PLUS I get to play video games and watch movies all I want, so long as I call it "research". So you can see this was a win/win for me. :drunk:

That said, I take my craft very seriously, and am looking forward to plaguing you all with annoying questions and tasteless humor. Pleased ta meet ya.

Ciao!

Howdy Psylon.... this is a real good site. You can learn a lot just ask and give out the knowledge that you have when asked.
Just be careful of the zombies and be sure to double tap!!!

Hi Psylon. Try to do a search before posting. Chances are, the questions you have will be pretty basic in the beginning and have already been asked and answered 1000 times. Welcome aboard!

Thanks. I'd be honored to pass on what little I know in terms of audio, when asked.

In terms of Zombies, well... I got that on lock. I've been surprised by all sorts of things in my life, but a Zombie apocalypse will not be one of them. I am SO ready for it should (god forbid) it ever happen. Even wore my favorite shirt today.

Heh. Oh yeah, I'm on NWTekno.org (er...alot) and they use vBulletin. I'm no stranger to the "search" field or the general rules of posting politely. ;)

Just may take a while to learn all the local customs is all.

Kampaii!

So school for audio is that geared towards live or studio?

A little from Column A, and a little from Column B. There are degrees that focus on both, if one prefers. I went with the more Studio focused tack, because I've done the "live" thing when I was a DJ, and before that a guitarist.

Specifically, my focus is on Analog/Digital recording and production (using Pro tools) but I also take classes in theory, composition/performance (piano), US copyright law, and other shenanigans.

Looks like you have all the bases covered.
We use pro tools in my studio (Loud Sun Studio) with a with a Yamaha PM 1800 console and a few large racks of vintage processing, and we do some of it in the box as well.
Then to top it all off we have a live sound company ( MoreSound Co.) too! So you can see we are pretty busy.

I believe it. The PM 1800 is a beast. TBH, I don't even know the make and model of our Sony, but it's about as old as I am. Still, it's good to learn the principals of signal flow on the older stuff. I'm really digging pro tools. We've got some Post audio projects this quarter, and I'm having a blast doing 'em.
