International Song Writing Competition 2010

So our good friends at ISC have asked us to help them out a bit to spread the word... So I figured there must be some folks here who create their own original music :D

There are loads of song writing competitions out there, but this one seems to be professional and high profile. OK it is not completely free to submit, but IMO it is better to pay something and have it be done properly as opposed to all those free competitions that are inundated with songs that nobody has the time to listen to. Deadline is Oct. 6 .

This could be worth looking in to.

Hold up. One question from their site that makes me a little wary: On the winners page, the winner of the novelty/comedy category is the song "Toast". That song has been around forever! Heck! Dr. Demento is a judge, and I'm pretty sure he's featured that song on his show. What's going on with that? Do people enter really old songs? Are they listing winners from longer ago than last year?
 
It's an obvious promotional scam. They already have the winners picked out which are clients that are trying to gain exposure. Then idiots give them $30 per song thinking that some famous person will actually listen to it. In the mean time teams of corporate songwriters are tearing through the entries stealing bits and pieces which will be assembled into brand new chart topping music.
 
Ocnor: That was kind of my fear when I saw that old songs were winning, but do you know for sure, or is there just something you see that looks suspicious?
 
Everything about that contest seems phony and suspicious. It reminds me of those fake poetry contests where the winners get their poem published. Everyone that enters wins and they put your poem in a book then sell you a copy for $100.
 
God this cross thread posting of this scam by Chater-La is annoying. Wonder what they pay to have this posted in every forum?
