So our good friends at ISC have asked us to help them out a bit to spread the word... So I figured there must be some folks here who create their own original music...:D

There are loads of song writing competitions out there, but this one seems to be professional and high profile. OK it is not completely free to submit, but IMO it is better to pay something and have it be done properly as opposed to all those free competitions that are inundated with songs that nobody has the time to listen to. Deadline is Oct. 6 .

So in case you are interested check it out: http://www.songwritingcompetition.com/

Why is this in the Newbie Forum?

There are so many entries, unless you have horseshoes up your butt or an inside connection, it's unlikely anyone will even listen to your song. And for those who disagree, can anyone prove that they listened to your song? There's no feedback or confirmation anyone listened. $35 is a fair chunk to chuck away on a dream... I'm cynical of the chances, it's like a lottery. Good luck....

Well, it will be interesting to see what others have to say- legit chance to have your music heard, or crass means of harvesting $30 from unsuspecting rubes?

I wish I had heard of this with a bit more advance notice than 8 days...

I don't know, I mean I never applied to this competition. But I do believe that your song gets listened to. I mean even the small competitions where you pay nothing around the country give your song a listen, I know this for a fact. So if you pay, to help cover their administration, judges, mktg costs... I am sure this is not a total scam.

They are too big to flat out rob musicians of their money. I think that sometimes putting a $ on a submission culls out alot of the trash and you get serious submissions.

Doesn't look that bad AFA songwriting competitions go...just too bad there is such a short suspense date. :(

Plus they point out in their FAQ that most of the winners from the last several years were outside the USA... :D ...I guess that puts us on the bottom of the list. ;)

Not very reassuring. You promote this and haven't even ponied up your own francs for this.
But I do believe that your song gets listened to.
Belief and $1.00 will get you a cup of coffee. You can belive all you want, like I believe some day I will win the lottery. Proof or its a scam.

Proof or it's a lie. In what country and how many entries 100 or 25000?

If it's not run fairly because no one listens to your song then it's a scam.

Do you know how naive that sounds? Give your head a shake!!! The only way to make money in music is to feed the dilusional dreams of the unknowing masses.

Sure.. and lottery tickets cost money so no one will buy them. If you can't get $30 you're probably under the minimum age anyway. So go on Youtube and expect your video to go viral.
