Interference with laptop

Hi,

I've just bought a laptop to use it as a second DAW, it's doing everything OK, except for the internal soundcard.
OK, i' wasn't expecting too much of it, but it has a lot of noisy interference, will this problem be solved when i buy a USB soundcard?
 
Not sure. Most likely. What other equipment are you using? What sound card are you considering for the laptop?

I was thinking something like a USB interface from edirol or midiman, is there another way to get around interference?
I heard once that if you leave the grounding pin out of your power supply, can this solve the problem?

I'm not sure. But you can't expect to get quality results from a laptop sound card, which came with the computer. It's just not meant for recording purposes.
 
I was very well aware of that, and i knew i had to buy a usb device, but if this is not going to help to reduce the interference,
what else can i do?
Any suggestions?
 
first what are you recoridng? Are you using a mixer? What type of mic? How is the grounding in your house? Is the noise coming from interference, such as your monitor(lcd)? Is it coming from the source? You need to give more info to find the answers.
 
Hi,

yesterday i tried it out to connect my computer to a powersocket without a grounding pin, the results are much better, i think this in combination with an external USB device will do!

Don't you want to ground it in order to remove hum? Also for safety of computer? Anybody else?
 
Any decent external interface will not have the same hum the internal card has. Do your homework on the USB devices, though. I've heard that some don't work well. I have a Tascam-US428 and it works great. I just heard horror stories about others.
