Hi there !
I was hesitating between the apogee duet 2, the focusrite saffire pro 40 and the motu audio express.

I need to be able to record with at least 2 condenser microphones. I do vocals and guitar micing ( electric and acoustic ) . Midi is also an advantage...but not necessary

So I wanna know which one has the better DAC, WC and Preamps.
Which one is the best quality wise.
Thanks !

If, for the price range ( 300 - 550 ) you have a better idea feel free.

I've not had any personal experience with the Apogee. However, the Focusrite and the MOTU are both good units--but the MOTU, in my opinion, has the edge on audio quality. FYI, MOTU is probably the "industry standard" for high end professional sound design like the guys who do work on Broadway.

A couple of other things about the Focusrite. I'm suprised you've found it within your budget. In my experience, it would sell for more like $600-$650. It also has far more inputs and outputs than you specify and it's a Firewire interface which may or may not be suitable for you. The MOTU can do Firewire or USB2.

The dacs and pre's in the focusright are pretty solid if you can afford them, sound really nice.
That would be my choice if it were only two channels. If you're thinking about more, then maybe have a look at a multichannel recording interface which arguably is more versatile and therefore likely to be in use for longer.
