what is this?
Okay, so I have a crappy gateway laptop (Intel Celeron 1.6 Ghz, 512mb RAM, 40gb HD, etc..), and I really want to do field recording with it. I am seeing a girl that plays the piano like nobody's business, and I'm really wanting to record her. Problem is, my piano is downstairs on the other side of the house, and her's is over at her house. So, either way, I would need some kind of interface for my laptop.
On my recording computer, I have Cubase SL(3.0) so I was toying with the notion of getting one of those lexicon USB interfaces, either the lambda or the alpha, to use for recording on my laptop with Cubase Le. Given the specs on my laptop, would it be able to handle something like that?
I have one game on there, it has really overdone graphics so (I think it's the reason that) my CPU meter jumps up to almost 100% when I have it running. I don't know for sure, but I want to make sure that it would be suitable for recording a few tracks without plugins, that I could put on my recording pc to futher mix and tinker with.
Thanks for your responses!
