Hey everyone, I'm fairly new ( to posting on this forum that is ) here. I'm working on builiding a home recording rig to record my own material. Mostly heavier pop/rock stuff, like Deftones, Tool, Staind etc...

I have prioritized my purchases somewhat and have decided that I'll stick it out with my current PC to record with until I get enough gear to warrant buying a dedicated Audio PC. My current rig is:

(Dell) P4 1.4 Ghz
256MB ECC RDRAM
80 Gig ATA EIDE HDD
Turtle Beach Santa Cruz Sound Card
Tascam MKIII 4-Track ( I'm using it for a mixer/pre )
2 - SM57s

I have decided that the first piece of gear I should aquire would be an interface of some sort. I really am leaning towards the M-Audio 1010. I am throwing that out here in hopes of reviews of the unit by those who have one. And I'd like to hear cases for other interfaces. I primarily want to get the M-Audio because of the amount of inputs for the amount of dough it's gonna take to get one.

If anyone has any input on the M-Audio 1010 or any other similar Device please let me know what you think! =)

Thanks!

Use the search button and search this forum for Delta 1010. Around here, it's probably THE most popular card on the block. It comes very highly recommended.

Your system should do you just fine, although you may want another 256mb of ram if you're going to do a lot of processing. Just try to keep it clean and close out all the unnecessary stuff before a session (weatherbug, ICQ, virus programs, etc..) Make sure you budget for good multi-track software too.
