Hello. I have a question regarding interface needs. I have two options for an interface, and I'd get both at around the same price. The first is the focusrite forte, the second is the focusrite Scarlett 8i6.

Benefits to the forte...supposedly higher quality hardware and more portable.

Benefits to the Scarlett...more I/o, which may or may not be handy in the future. For my immediate needs I only need two mics. However, I would need two headphones, and with the forte it looks like I would also have to buy a headphone amp to achieve this.

My question : am I even going to notice a quality improvement on the forte? Or should I just stick with the increased flexibility of the scarlett for simple speech work ?

That's a hard question to answer. Yes, the Forte has superior specs and would be more portable, but the Scarlett has always sounded great to me and has lots of I/O as you say.

My bet would be that you would be hard pressed to actually notice any differences, even though they would be there.
