Interface or Mixer

I currently use a TASCAM US-144 MkII that I use as an interface for my Dell Win 7 system. Today I purchased a Behringer XENYX 1204 mixer. I asked the dealer if I still needed my interface and he indicated that I would. However when I unboxed the mixer it includes U-Control UCA200 interface to allow it to connect directly to the computer via usb.

Is there any reason to keep the TASCAM in the chain? Oddly the TASCAM cost more than the mixer with interface.

Thanks for your help.

You will get more mileage from the interface than the mixer...besides those mixers have a bad rep for being noisy...Id take it back.

Certainly there's no need for both of them to be in use at the same time--it's a "one or the other" proposition. But unlike some others, I'm not gonna tell you blindly to return one.

Try 'em both. Use your ears. Compare the features. Take comfort in the fact that you only need one, and you've got some money coming back if you return the other. But take a little time and see which one you like best.
