Hello, pardon my ignorance as I'm really new to this kind work, but I need help with my Lexicon Omega interface. I've had great experiences before, but now weird things are happening. I'm using garageband, and after about 10 minutes of use an error pops up saying the lexicon has been disconnected. I've never had this problem before. Other times, the interface doesn't actually disconnect but the recording comes out all distorted and clippy.

I wonder it's because I recently switched to Leopard? I don't think there are any new drivers, but thanks for the help.

Chris

I can't seem to find any, but if I'm just being stupid and missing them please anyone tell me where.

I have a EMU interface and it goes offline because the cable from the interface to the card isn't a firm fit.

Fortunately the lights make me aware and I crawl under the desk and re-seat the cable.

Someday I'll fix it or super glue it! Something to check though.

Try this:
Go to HD/Library/Audio/MIDI Drivers. Look for anything by emagic. If you find it, move it to another folder, don't delete it, you may need it for running Logic. Just move it out and see if that takes care of the problem.

All right, I'll try that first thing in the morning. I just moved the file out, thanks for all the help hope it works.

Ok, I did what you said. Now, when I plug the interface in, it doesn't even show up in the preferences, like where I select the audio input/output (it's using built in). Did I do something wrong?

No you didn't do anything wrong. Sometimes when you install Logic, the emagic drivers can screw up your garage band. That appears to not be your problem. Just take the file and put it back where it was.

If you don't have the latest I-Life upgrade, you might call them and see if installing that would help with your problem (may have the newer drivers). I know it has several garage band upgrades in it. The old version is 16 bit, the newer I-Life upgrade converts garage band to 24 bit. If you haven't installed that yet, I'd look into it.

Well, I'll definitely check out the new iLife (I wanted it anyway:)) but, the interface still doesn't plug in. I put the emagic file back in its place, do you know what's causing this new problem?
