I see deaf people
I know, I know...two in one week, Im sorry...Ill give it a rest until next week I promise

This one proved pretty difficult for me to mix and i had to strip a couple of layers out as they were cancelling other tracks out after the breakdown...no matter what i did or automated :o

I think its got clarity there now??

any comments/help will be rewarded with a seat on my intergalactic space cruiser come 12:12:2012

its called "The Final Front Ear" (lol, I know)

that's me in the middle!

Aw what the hell...I'm not helping you much with these, but I am listening, so I figure I'll leave a note anyway. I do like this one.

There seems to be more lo-mid stuff going on here. It has a thicker, more dense sound. I was thinking you were missing some higher frequency melldic elements, but around 1/3 of the way through, we start getting some higher peripheral sounds (some of which seemed almost perfunctory, like you were killing time waiting for stuff to really start happening) but it really picked up from there. I still wish some of those elements were introduced earlier maybe.

I like the thing where the whole tune kinda gets sucked in and spat back out...cool.

No problem with clarity at all here. Rarely do I find that to be an issue with electronic music (at least when compared to mic'ing instruments), but one thing I hear consistently with your tracks is depth. Lots of cool spatial relationships and stuff. Keep cranking them out man :).

What is up with that pic ? It's like Dr. Who on Broadway circa 1979 - or maybe the cast of Battlestar Galactica teams up with Abba? Is that a young Jason Alexander and Phil Collins on either end?

thanks man...i really enjoyed making it and jamming along but overdid the initial saw/octave bass thing

I know exactly what your saying...rather than anticipating the next part you're kinda waiting for it, like a bus...i suppose as I learn and get better with synthesis I get stuck on the one thing sometimes...this week was trying to get a moog filter sound

Ill revisit it with fresh ears and see if a bit of rearrangement can solve it

the spit out things fairly easy...bounce the main parts of the track then automate a filter on the part you want to keep in..genius aint it? ;)

the cheesy pic is Blakes 7, a low budget BBC drama from the early 80s late 70's...it was awesome in a totally non awesome way..

thanks again Heat, your seat numbers 22A :)

This is one of your better efforts. I think the space and clarity is pretty good. The kick is lacking some thump. The opposite of your usual "kick" sounds.

Why are your songs so long? You could consense this way down. Too repetitive and basic. I know that sounds silly coming from some dude that plays 3 or 4 chord noise rock, but this like a bunch of loops, 8 measures at time, with each loop adding one small piece. I aint trying to be a dick or nothing. I'm just saying, get to the point faster in each section. Maybe that's just how this genre rolls?

cheers G

this is one of the few times I only used two kicks instead of three..I cant believe you can pick that up??? fucking incredible <facepalm>

the trade off with length is that I can do a version to be interesting for the mp3 clinic or i can do a version as would be presented to a DJ...which means loads of run in and/or loads of run off, standard break in the middle...so they can hypothetically mix it in or out (like a DJ would ever play one of my tunes) by nature its 8 bars or 16 bars in length for each section...to be honest I enjoy producing it, Id rarely listen to it outside a DJ playing it

i dont think that is this ones problem though..I just think its a bit too boring at the beginning, Ill have a think, and you are a dick...just seldom in here :D

your seat numbers C16

you've given me an idea though...im going to do clinic mixes with mainly the meat of the tune and no intro/outro...as this is where im going to have any problems...

or do zepplin covers :D

Lol. I see. Personally, I didn't find the beginning boring. It got boring for me at around the 5 minute mark, which is about 2 minutes past my usual song attention span. :o

lol...I thought it finished at 4.30..i should really time these:D

like I said a short mix might be an idea for in here...as Im only going to do this kinda stuff for a while

hey if i try a punk tune will you do a DJ G_L house tune? lol

I like it. I don't dance so it falls on "deaf ears" But i can see this going in a club.

Lots of low end, haven't heard your other stuff recently, so don't know what's changed. Everyting has its own space and separated nicely.

Cool man.

thanks Chilli :)

brilliant that parts arent fighting so much, they were on my first attempts at this

Cool... I'm a sucker for a repetitive bassline & congas or latin percussion of any type. Nice development of the motif, & I like the interest you created with the different sounds appearing... personally, I prefer a fuller, boomier kick in this type of music - I'm no expert though, & I'm listening on small speakers, so I'm missing the bottom octave.
I like it!

thanks dude...the kick is definitely missing something, if Greg notices it there's little argument lol

i think I backed out layering another sample because of all the low mids...ill stick one in tomorrow...

thanks for listening you get G15 its next to the engines but near the toilets, always good on a long flight :D

brought the kick up and cleared a bit of the low mids...better?

accidentally turned up the piano but ill fix it later...oops :o

I was going to say something like "sounds good; no nits."

Then I realized it's 7:15 long! o.o

I think it could stand to be a little shorter!

no its 4.30, you've set your clock wrong..trust me

Ill do some pruning when i fix the piano lol

C17 next to Greg :)

final mix..I just noticed id faded every track out regardless of where it sat in the mix...dont press select all next time... doh!

increased its length by another 16 bars to add death metal guitar solo :laughings:

didnt really

:D

I like it...that groove is gonna be stuck in my head while I wait in line at Quiznos for my toasty torpedo!
