Hey guys,

I just recorded a song and I wonder what your thoughts are.
It's a short track with piano ( ofcource :p ), drums guitar and bass.
I'm planning to put an acoustic guitar in the mix as well. But I have to buy one first:P But in the end of this week I'll have one of my own at last! :p :D
Here is the link:

Tnx!

John

That's an excellent sound you have going there, John. Very nice balance in the mix and the drums are lively and right up front where they should be. Acoustic guitar would be nice, but so would some vocals.

You looking to collaborate or do you have some vocals in mind?

Well I actually just wrote this song for testing the sound and for experimenting with mixing/ mastering and so forth..:p I'm glad you liked it!
I didn't intend to put some vocals in the mix, because my poor collection( almost none) of microphones won't let me( I don't have a decent vocal mic):p.
But what did you have in mind?

John

Sounded nice. Very clear cymbals. Lots of detail. Full sounding mix. Bass sounded good too.

Cymbals are a little heavy on the right. You might want to balance them a little more. Drums are just slightly loud.

That's about it. Nice.

for a "pianos of course" it's not done very pianisticly... sounds like ya held a chord and strummed the strings... too much verb..

Indeed, you're right, but I wanted it to sound this way. Just long notes fading away.:P Usualy when I use the piano I do it more for the ambient sound.

nice groove.

personally, i like the space you create with your instruments. leaves room for the intricacies of the drums to come forward and drive the whole thing. the left foot eight notes anchor the syncopation elsewhere.

of course, it isnt a song yet, without a lead voice. not sure that voice has to be from a singer though. then again, its a nice progression to jam with and work on phrasing.

Welcome to the Forum.

Bass frequencies well balanced.Bass/drums are "played" or sampler?

Piano and guitar seems "fighting" on similar frequency. It´s not "wrong", but you could at least try something for a better stereo image or define the piano...But,as it is just a piece of a song, who knows...

At 0:22 band seems a bit unnatural; dinamic not grows as a "band playing", seems more that you simply added volume (snare is a good example).
But, again, nothing "sooo wrong":D

Congrats for the "groove"...waiting for solo or vocal.

Tnx!
The drums are done with midi keymapping with Addictive Drums and bass is played by me. Tnx for the advice, I really need to understand the basics of mixing and mastering so any help is usefull:D.

And as for the snare, I wanted to make the second part of the song more dramatic so I took another fuller snare with higher velocity to emphasize the second part of the song.
