I'm so sorry.
I've been trying to installl more ram on my xp system. When I put more into the last open slot I have, my comp acts, for a lack of a better term, crazy. If it boots completely up, when I try to open pro tools, I get all sorts of bad image error messages. Sometimes, it will lock up before getting completely booted up. I've tried to different kinds of ram in the same slot and the same thing happens. When I pull the extra ram out, everythings fine. I know I've got an acceptable type of ram, and I know my mother board supports the amount of ram Im trying to put in. Any suggestions as to what may be happening? Do I need to make any windows adjustments to accomodate more ram?

hmmmm, more details would help, such as - MOBO, CPU Type, how much RAM you started with (amount, how many modules?), and how much you are trying to put in.
Help us help you!

Take the computer to a healer, and get it have it's aura cleansed. It sounds like its definetly possessed by spirits. You can also call a priest, but they don't deal with poltergist anymore. :D :D ;)

Seriously, like gordone said. Need a little more detail. Do you have like an HP computer, a peopleperson special, Dell, Compaq, a laptop?

Are you sure it's a good stick you're putting in? Bad memory happens and causes just the symptoms you're describing!

You might try running a utility called "memtest," which is freeware. You need to install it on a CD or floppy and reboot to the CD or floppy. It will test your memory. It should be able to run for a few hours with no errors; if not, hyou have a bad memory stick.

If you have tried different sticks of ram and it only freaks out when you use the last slot, my guess would be a bad motherboard.
