Installing Logic Studio on Mac Mini

Does anyne have any experience with this? I have a copy of Logic Studio I got a couple ears ago, im looking to upgrade my pc, I want to go with a mac, I dont want to have to buy a disk drive because I dont use discs anymore (so 1999). Is there a way to take the discs and create iso files to transfer via flash drive? Will this work? I have my serials and everything my copy is legit, jus dont wanna buy a disc drive.

How 'old' is it?

Is it a powerpc version? (they wont work on anything with Lion or Mountain Lion OS's....)

You'd be smart to buy a $30 usb dvd burner/drive, but yes otherwise if you know someone with a mac you could make disk images on a usb drive.

i had to put my old logic on a disk to my new computer with Lion and had to go through a whole lot of internet searching to get it to work. it was a year ago so i cant give any real help but it is a pain. just sayin'.

Which version of Logic is it? bare in mind, lion (10.7) and above won't run lower than logic 9.1.4 (which i found out the hard way when upgrading machines and only having logic 8... grrr!)

Otherwise, yes you can, but i can't remember how as it's been a while since i did it. Google normally holds the answers

Logic Studio v2.1 comes with Logic Pro 9 and some other stuff. Its an edu version but theres no differerence between it and the non-edu, except i cant upgrade it to 10 when it comes out. I got it from school till i decided that spending 70 gs at full sail might not be the best investment. I really like logics workflow though so much so that I would spend that much just to use it lol. Just hate to buy a disc drive to install one program. Ihave a windows pc obviously so i can create isos on it. I found the answer apparently you can do it in daemon tools lite which is free. Whether it works or not remains to be seen.

Dude, i have exactly the same edu set, i just wanted to double check (i don't want anyone else falling foul of the "no logic 8 support" for new machines. it was a proper kick in the teeth when it happened to me after shelling out £1000 for a new MBP and then having to shell out for Logic 9 when i was perfectly happy with 8)

The only issue may be that a windows PC may or may not read/see the Logic disks, but as far as installing it from a .iso or .dmg file it's absolutely fine.

Otherwise, if there are any problems either find a mate with a mac already and create a .iso from that (which will definitely work) or find someone with an external dvd drive you can borrow for an evening
