Hello,

Any experiences with interface cards, especially the AD-conversion part?

I am looking for an interface to help preserve my and my family's violin and piano attempts (not concert quality!) on disk and to digitize some vinyl as well. Because of the vinyl I'd like to have an AD-converter with decent sound quality.

I was looking at Presonus FireBox, but come to realize that the cheaper Presonus Inspire 1394 has all the functionality I need, at least for now. In fact, in terms of functionality the Inspire is better since its unbalanced line input matches the unbalanced line output from my RIAA stage.

My doubt is the sound quality. To digitize vinyl I'd like to have a good AD-converter. Are Inspire and FireBox the same in that respect, or does FireBox give better AD-conversion?

Or should I stay away from Presonus completely and buy something else? My computer is an iMac G5.
