hi everyones!
i almost feel shamed but i have some problems to understand how to connect a insert(compressor) in a mixer!! :p
on the mixer i have the input "insert" and on the compressor i have in/out and sidechain(???) .
can you please help me out? do i have to use a special cable??? when i try myself i don't have any signal in the compressor ...how is it possible???
i hope to ear you soon,thanx :)

You need an "insert" cable, It's basically a "Y" adapter, except not really. The insert is a single plug on your mixer capable of sending AND receiving a signal. The insert cable has two connectors on one side (tip and ring) labelled and 1 connector on the other. The single connector side goes into the insert jack and the tip (input) would go in the Output of your compressor and the ring (out) would go to the Input on your compressor. Hope this helps.

hey thanx a lot !! everything clear now!
but i have another question...is the insert processed before the eq of the mixer or after?
thanx, bye

The insert is pre-eq generally, check your manual for specifics. Some boards have the ability to switch back and forth as well.
