Hello,

I'd been having problems with 3.1.5 so I just downloaded 3.1.7. I believe that it's running much better however I'm again experiencing recording volume clips for no apparent reason.

Mono is ok but stereo to two tracks is impossible to bring the level down. I had this same problem with 3.1.5 and I posted about it either here or at FAsoft. I can't remember what the damn fix was and searching for my post at FAsoft is a pain.

Does anyone have a clue as to what my problem is?

Thanks,
Rusty K

Ok...

I found my previous post on this subject but it didn't answer my question about the input vol. clipping. I'm thinking that the problem simply dissappeared on it's own as I began to tweak my system to clear up many problems in functionality.

Anyway I don't want to revert to default settings because the program is otherwise responding much better than before.

If I can clear up this problem I may be back in business.

Thanks,

Rusty K

update!

Ok again...

I've been able to record just the signal that is causing the clip. It sounds like a metronome. It's loud enough to record at level with the input faders dropped to almost "0". It's there all the time when I'm in either stereo modes. I can record flawlessly in mono.

What could be causing this?

Other than this problem, 3.1.7 is performing just fine.

Hey Slack,

I opened metronome and could see nothing weird. It sounds like a metronome but I'm not absolutely sure that's what it actually is. It could be some kind of signal that's just cycling in a pattern. Whatever it is it's there the minute I click either stereo record mode.

I'll go look around again.

Input VU meter shows the signal there but I can't hear it until I hit the record button.

????

If I depress the "Live" button I can then hear the weird signal.

Open up the metronome and hit test, just to see if that's what it is. Probably not though...very odd...

Slackmaster 2000

I've hit test.....but what is it supposed to do? Am I supposed to hear it or what?

The button just changes from "Test" to "Stop" until I depress it again. Could be I had my analog out muted when I tried I'll try again.

Ok tried again. Unchecked "mute metronome". PC speakers were checked but the sound came through the modem speaker not my headphones or my monitors.

Now I'm almost sure this sound is not the metronome. It's different but in steady intervals.

Update!

I just found the message to Flavio pertaining to this problem back when I downloaded 3.1.5. Unfortunately I had to submit the query to Flav again as I stupidly deleted his "fix".

I'll be sure and relate what he has to say when he responds.

Ummmm....so far Flavio suggests reverting to default settings. I'm scared to do it yet since the program is smooth otherwise.

I'm like in limbo here!

I have posts at FASoft and with Flavio about this @#$%^& problem.

Here's a link to the offending signal that is present whenever I select either stereo mode for recording.

Take a listen to the whole section. It's sounds like a metronome but if you listen on you will hear it fade and then come back. That is what the signal does throughout.

Update!

I've been on the phone with my soundcard mfg. this morning. I downloaded a diagnostic app from their website.

My soundcard is functioning just fine!

I'm freaking stuck. I can't go back and and I can't go forward. This really sucks and it's wasting hours of my time.

It kind of gives a more realistic and rational meaning to "inexpensive".
