Hey hows it going im new to home recording and posting threads but reguardless im having some trouble and need some help. right now my set up is acid pro 6 and ez drummer. i am running my guitar through a line 6 pod xt live. i am running a double sided 8th inch jack from my pod (using quarter inch attachment) out of the phones jack (i get nothing when i use the output jack) and the other side is ran straight in the front of my computer mic jack. so if youre reading this you probably already know im having some input problems with levels and static. i am not sure if its somthing i need to change on my processor or if its in my computer levels or if its in the program. i am getting weary of the trail and error process thought i would seek some help.
if you can help or give me any tips it would definetly be appreciated
thanks
luke

I suspect your soundcard is at fault here. Most internal cards just don't handle this task very well...especially those that are stock and included with the comp.

I'd recommend you start with a simple USB interface...they are cheap and plentiful. You can spend anywhere from $30 http://www.zzounds.com/a--2676837/item--BEHUCA202
to as much as you want to. Personally, I'm a fan of both the Tascam US series...122, 144 and the M Audio Fast Track.
Here's a link to Sweetwater's USB interface page...it'll give you an idea of what's out there and how much.

These interfaces actually become the computer's soundcard. If you buy one, you will need to disable the onboard soundcard. Easy to do....if you decide to go with an interface, just drop us a thread with any questions and we'll walk you right through it.

thanks alot for the help man im gonna definetly check them out i know i can produce alot better sound it just takes alot of patience and hands on to learn all this stuff through.

thanks alot for your help
