Hi, i was wondering if anyone here would have any answers for this....

I was trying to send a sound out of mt PC into a pre amp and then back into the PC again just to try and get a bit more separation to the sound... but when i did it i found it changed the sound and i got a bit of feed back and a lot of high end noise, had to have it quite low....... am i trying to do something i should not? or am i doing it wrong?... just confused me a bit..

one of odd thing that may be linked was..

I hooked my pre amp up to my audio interface (EMU 0404) and it seemed that the right side was making this noise but only when put through the pre amp.... when going right into the pc the sound is clear.... but when i go through the pre amp.. either channels, it makes the noise.... both pre amp tracks work ok and the right audio interface works ok, except when i put it through the pre amp first! the left channels on the audio interface does not have the problem...

the only thing i can think of is maybe moving around the plug sockets?

???

any advice?

thanks

Can you more specifically describe how you're hooking things up. What external pre-amp are you trying to use?

If you're going line out of the E-MU to the Mic In on the pre-amp, that could cause a problem because you're overgaining the pre-amp.

To be honest, I'm not clear on why/what you are trying to do?

If you have your DAw set up to monitor the input, that is your feedback problem. The only thing you could possibly gain by running the mix out into a preamp would be the coloration of the preamp. Stereo separation isn't going to be helped, however you will add noise and distortion.
