Well. I just purchased the Delta66 but instead of the breakout box, I decided upon myself to get an upgade and use the Omni I/o Studiobox..

After installing the project, I find a problem.. My mic isn't picking up any signal. I plugged it into the "input1." Any suggestions or tips on why this might be happening?

Is your mic a condenser? If so, have you turned the phantom power on?

no i got a dynamic mic..

see the thing is I can't get the mic to be detected.. i can get the old computer mic which is plugged in the back of the computer to work.. but not the work on the interface..

HELP

I you click on the Delta control panel and select the screen that you can set the volume levels on (I forget the name of that panel) do you see any levels coming in ? Is everything unmuted ? Check the routing tab as well to make sure you have input 1 and 2 routed to monitor mix.

Maybe the mic's broke....

Do you have any other mics to test the box with? Or, do you have anything else to plug that mic into to see if it'll work?

welps.. problem solved guys.. basically the driver version that came w/ the hardware, according to the technicians, is not the best driver. so I downloaded the newest driver on the website.. problem solved.. just more questions..

What's the best settings I can put on the omni studiobox for beset results? or how should I record to get best results.. its probably just me but when I speak into the mic, it makes a scratchy sound.. is it bc i'm too close? holla holla

ya know when you overdrive a guitar amp and it sounds cool? well that's analogue distortion. ya know when your gain is too high on your preamp and the mic signal is overdriven? that's digital distortion and it don't sound good. in your driver panel, make sure the incoming signal isn't hitting the top of the meter because then it'll make this sound.

thanks noise... just one thing... when i record it sounds low..

BUT.. the omni I/O has the preamp installed already in the mic/instrument inputs.. why is my voice so low ?

dunno what you mean mate. what's 'low' about your voice and where is it low?

There is a time in every young man's life where he must read the manual. My friend, your time has come.

volume wise... like the instrumental.. my voice will never reach that volume intensity.. just wondering "how come the computer mic does?"

anyways.. my time has come? manuals? ehh.. if we all read the manual, the technical support will never have a job to do :) hahha

whoa okay.. i just didn't have the gain all the way up.. anyway.. should the GAIN control be turned ALL THE WAY MAX ? or half way.. i heard someone tell me just halfway.. but it still sounds low.. :) any suggestions?

In all seriousness your manual answers these very basic questions in a step by step way that applies exactly to your hardware. There is going to be a level meter in your software and the goal is to set the preamp/input gain so that the level is close to 0db without going over. After that you adjust the main volume to whatever volume you want.

If you plan on doing audio engineering you must start reading manuals. How else are you going to know what each button does and what the recomended settings are?

To raise the overall average volume after or during recording you need to use compression.

Ya - What Tex said. Being a former owner of that unit I can tell you that the manual has a pretty good explaination on getting started with your first recording. Read through it and give it a try.

alright.. reading my manual....

while i'm waiting on the line for the techinical support..

hhah nah im just kidding.. You're right.. I'm starting to read.. anyways, thanks for the tips guys..
