Inexpensive yet decent 24-fret bass?

I have an '83 Ibanez Roadstar Bass that has 24 frets and active electronics. It was made in Japan and is built like a tank.. it'll last forever. It plays and sounds awesome.

You can still find 'em pretty cheap on Ebay.

I've always wondered... Is there actually a bass player that uses those 23rd and 24th frets?
I must be listening to the wrong kind of music for that..

I've recently gotten into Stuart Hamm... This being the prime reason why i ask...
Along with Jaco and Les, yes... I'm finding myself wanting to learn these songs to get better at this stuff, and it's rather difficult when you can't play a lot of the material lol...
