Winner chicken dinner!

opinions? help? Are the guitars out of tune?

Freakin' awsome! Love the piano tone what is that!? It sounds like a real f'in piano. When everything kicks in the mix is sooo good the drums just get off sometimes where I didnt know what the drummer was doing but maybe thats just me ill have to relisten.

Sounds really good.
Love the song to.

It's a little TOO Ben Folds but it sounds cool. It does sound like you guys are all over the place too. But, it is still cool.

what do you mean all over the place? timing?

yea i don't know how its all over either, it seems pretty straightforward to me. didn't notice anything odd with the drums. biggest thing i noticed was the bass guitar is a bit overwhelming on certain notes (big surprise).

Drums are recorded to a click so it's other stuff they're hearing if they meant off time. The bad part is he recorded to click WITHOUT anyone else doing scratch tracks, so I think the feel is sort of off in places. Yeah, bass seems to take over in places (i think the "chorus"?) and vocals are too essy, but I can't seem to get vocals to not be too essy without taking away from the quality of the vocal as a whole. I probably need to have this be a focus during the tracking stage.

To the poster earlier, the piano is a crappy yamaha "family keyboard" with only a headphone out so I could only get a mono signal out of it. It is also doubled with the double pretty low in the mix so you don't notice the timing differences as much. I don't quite remember, but it is also most likely compressed and EQ'ed.

Sounds pretty good for this style. How much compression was put on the vocals? Sometimes too much compression brings out that extra ess noise. Overall sounds good to me.

The piano bass & bass guitar are brawling. EQ them away from each other. 3Khz up for the bguit & 3Khz doen for the piano to start & then decide which should be what.
A mid period Slade album use piano well with bass (the How Does It Feel? from the FLAME soundtrack). It was important to them as Jim Lea, the bassist, was also the panist so he wanted both to shine. He used one or the other for important bits & EQ things elsewhere.
Good song - esp when it veers away from Ben Folds.
