Increase Volume????

I'm using an M-Audio 2626 interface with Logic Pro on a Macbook Pro. We're recording a bass line that is extremely quiet (the bassist is using a strange technique that can't produce much volume) and I was wondering how I can increase the volume in the mix? I've tried raising the trim, turning the amp up, so on and so fourth, but I was wondering if there was a more technical solution, as I really need to beef up this signal.

I think ranjam means to use compressor unit for volume increase (before your M-Audio 2626) or in the Logic
in other way - you can try to normalize raw files, or try to find the gain knob)

Not everyone has the gear, but low level or upward compression (where the compression ratio is <1) should make everything below the threshold louder. You can fake it with parallel compression, but it's not quite the same, since mixing in the compressed signal can often also boosts the transients.

Cool, thanks guys, I'll investigate that.

What hardware would I need to purchase? And how would I do that in Logic via the software route?

I've seen it done in 'pro' studios, but I don't have the gear at home, so I really don't know what you'd have to buy. Someone much smarter than I am will have to tell you. I only know it is done.

also try adjusting the gain of the wav for the quiet part after you record it
