this is a band I recorded... what do you guys think of it recording-wise? What can I do to improve my recordings in the future?

Thanks for any comments,
T

this sounds pretty killer to me man...

i really don't have anything to offer. i've heard much worse in this kind of genre recordings

WOW!

Like TSOL's " darker my lover" with Jello Biafra singing it!
with some serious guitars thrown in, and some sassy meatmen style chorus

Id like to hear more of this band!

if anything is really weak to me its the drums. What do you have against kick drums ? :)
They sound real mono too, which may or may not be a problem. How were the drums done ?

attitude !!! thats what counts, and you sure as hell captured attitude on the vocals

i think it is a nice clear mix everything cuts through good on my
monitors. it was a joy to listen to! i like the way it ended! i liked the way his voice sounded during the humming parts! good job.
tim,

pretty good man.........a little bit of hiss in the quiet parts.......the drums are definitely well played, but the kick is getting lost a bit.........................i like the vocals........guitars sound good........great job

cool tune.. it sounds very compressed like the radio I guess..

unfortunately the drum mistakes kill this..

yeah,
the drummer's a mentally challenged 22 year old guy. there wasnt much i could do. they couldnt get it right.

i put a sennheiser e602 on the kick. it sounded good i guess i coulda put it louder in the mix though

thanks for the replys!

oh yeah and pipeline i think the problem is i used only one drum overhead... oops i'm outta preamps and tracks. and heres another mp3 of them. drums are still pretty out there...

I like this-Good ole garage rock-the sound you got seems good for the genre-The drums sound kinda funky-like they have a high end exciter on them or something and the kick wasnt too loud either-but I feel your pain with recording live drums.....It sounds like you captured the attitude of the band and the song-that's the important thing....Did you do any home "mastering" to this? I can almost hear that Ozone signature sound on this(talk about wild guesses)....
