In support of Guitar Center

I like guitar center because they stock so many guitars.

You can usually find what you're interested in on the shelf and play it.

I don't think I would buy a guitar online.

Guitar Center has a liberal return policy.

For that reason alone I purchase from them - I can return the fuckin' thing.

I can't figure out if they love me or hate me- I spend a shitload of money but am frequently bringing stuff back because "I didn't love it".

Plus, what Jimi said ^^^

Something I thought you folks might be interested in. Goldman, Sachs & Co. - who own GC - have sold GC to Brain Capital Partners LLC for $2.1 billion including assumed debt. According to Marty Albertson, chairman and CEO of GC they don't plan to change anything about GC vendor-wise. Source: Mix Magazine August 2007

credit where credits due... they gave me a deposit back in full, that was righteous of them.

as far as returns, hahaaa, me too....i was returning so much crap for awhile they got pissed and had the manager come wait on me every time eventually.

and GC won, I stopped because it got fried...frozen faces.
I didn't damage their stuff, but I admit I was kind of using them for a take it home-try it out-bring it back....don't buy anything.....
but they always caved in, and I got my money back. got to be a hassle.

hell they have so much beaten up and abused shit from the store-monkeydwellars, i should have been the least of their concerns!
I took very good care of the stuff...er... because I wanted my money back! :p

Will anyone else here admit to going to GC to try something out and seeing if you love it.............. so you can go patiently hunt one down on ebay for less?

I've done it mostly with amps/effects. Never done it with guitars, as I havent bought a new one in years, but rather actually sold off 3 in the last 2 years.

Of course. Unless I have seen something in person, how can I truly GAS over it? GC doesn't care about that; it doesn't affect their bottom line. I may end up getting it from them anyway; there's no warranty on eBay items.

Of more questionable ethics are the folks who abuse their return policy by treating it as a free rental - pick up some gear they need to do a project and then bring it back for a refund when they are done.

yeah the warranty... If you have to have brand new and don't like people and salesmen, I guess online stores are great too. fresh from the factory thats cool.

the take home and record a project thing, yeah, its part of doing business I guess... the microphones they've pretty much stopped returning. WalMArt all the big mega marts deal with returns and the people who steal knobs off shit and take them back. but "relic" is in styl;e so maybe missing knobs will catch on.:p I always see alot of missing knobs at GC....its frkn Mega Mart ...

I've spent a lot of money there since the 80's so fhk them as I see it. Anyway, they don't have much for me anymore other than boredom visits and strings.

I have been finding lately, Craigslist.com kicks Ebays ass all the way to the 1 yard line.

Yamaha 16AWG and TAscamm 2488 $275!! geezz!!

CList is local, like the old newspaper... cash, physically check it out... so far so good. even met a cool new friend gearhead who came and bought some speakers off me!! No fhkng SHIPPING!!! whooohooo!!!

I almost grabbed a deluxe US stratocaster with Hard case, mint....for $600.
GC can't compete with that.

GC can't even come close.

matter of fact, I'm going to grab another $120 check now. from someone....and man do I need it!! Craigslist, local...no shipping, cash, and quick.

oops the Thread is "IN SUPPORT OF GC".....er.... their great for when I'm bored on the weekend and want to look at gear.?
