Sound Diagnosis downloaded a copy of the original mix. He added some B3, piano, tambourines, a few minimal cymbals, violin, string section, claves and real harmonica and remixed it. I think he did really nice job :D. Let us know what you think of this version!

:) :D :) :D

Aspects of this are good but it suffers from too much going on.
In some spaces the vocal is almost crowded out.
The Hammond sustained lines are great. The harmonica fills the gaps you dropped licks on.
Some of the strings have excellent lines but push the piece towards Moody Blues land. The jauntiness of the harmonica is at odds with the strings I think.
As I mentioned before - TOO MANY IDEAS.
Sound Diagnosis certainly has great chops & excellent ideas but, like many of us, needs an editor.
It'd be nice to sit at a big desk & drop things out until you find a perfect balance with all of these excellent flourishes.
I must say I like you 2nd mix more - almost unadorned melody & emotion.
Though this one reminded me of just how muscular and important you rhythm playing is.
Keep this one as a reprise track at the end of the album BUT drop out the vocal melody.

Wow ido your song has really been beefed up here. Pretty cool. I think the best parts are the B3 and the harmonica. As Ray said, some of it feels like a bit much. The additions are cool, but IMO the best part of the song is still your vox, so I'd make sure not too much interrupts that. Other thoughts... I like the piano... not sure if I like the strings/violin as much. Overall, it's a cool listen, good work Sound Diagnosis, sounds good :)

Rayc, Snakedog - thanks for listening. There are quite a few additions in this version of the song, giving it some variety and keeping the interest of the listener. That being said, you've both made some good suggestions. A reduced accompaniment would still enhance the tune but in a simpler way. Thanks again guys!

:) :D :) :D

I like it...I think I like teh simpler version a bit better, as that's what I got used to, but this sounds nice. With this much going on, you should probably put up a 192K version, to let the sounds come out better. There is a lot happening man....but it sounds good.

Very good additions man.... :)

Ok, I am guilty. I laid down tracks hot and heavy...like schmaltz herring...thick and creamy....but I had a friggin blast doing this. I one-taked all except the harmonicas. (15 takes!! ) I ain't a harp playa yet. LOL

Only once have I tried getting some nice spacey strings on a track. This could of have been worse and betters my previous effort.

Kudos to Gerry on some fine work and hope I didnt bastardize this cool tune. Would of loved to have worked with the newer version due to the clarity of the vocals and other nice touches without stepping on it too much. Oh well. It was a fun learning experience, anyway! I do have a 320BR version of my addition, but was unable to put on Gerry's suggested website. Bad, BAD website!!!! :p

Your stuff sounded good man....well played and recorded.

Lee uploaded the 320KB version to lightningmp3.com a few times but never received a confirmation email    . If NL5 reads this maybe he can let him know if there is any known problems with larger files (14MB). I uploaded the 128KB file and received an email immediately.  Or, if anyone has any other suggested sites let us know! I'd love to download a 320 version of this file. Thanks!

I'd host it man...if you get it on yousendit.com , and pm me, I'll put it up.

The additions are definitely well played and sound great. I hate repeating what has already been established but, I too, found it a bit busy at times. But, so what. Now you have a bunch of tracks to work with. You can fade them in and out as you wish.

I'm not a fan of strings personally. I find they shmaltz up a song too much. Especially if it's a slower tune. I would have liked to hear it go from sparse to layered at the end. Having said all that, it doesn't take away from the fact that this tune sounds top-notch, performance-wise and production-wise at this point. Great song.

Thanks RAMI - appreciate the kind words about the song and the production..... :)

Dogman - thanks for the offer to host. I hope Lee will be more successful at uploading to yousendit this time... :)

Well I sent the 320BR's out to the Dawgman'. Hope he gets it. Does sound clearer and crisper. Wish I had the benefit of the "new release" LOL. Tried to match up the newer track side-by-side with the previous, but the new track seems to be a 1/4 second longer by the time the file ends....like the newer version is stretched. Go figger. Kudos to Dogman for offering his account for the x-fer. DUDE!!!

Her's the 320K version....I tried to Pm Sound with the link, but he has exceeded his storage... :D

In My Heart

I like it. Sounds much better, as the cymbals didn't wash.

Sounds nice I like simple songs though so you know where I'm leaning;)

Is this a Van Morrison song? To me it sounds like him. It's a good one.

Wow Gerry. Wow Sound Diagnosis. There is not much more to say, that hasn't already been said. I know there is a lot going on, but it is one damn good busy song. Lee's contribution to an already excellent song, sent it over the edge to #1 HIT.

I think I may have said this of one of your songs before...I have of Freud and Philgood's(who also write awesome love songs)....I hope to live long enough to have someone write me a song filled with so much emotion and love.

Something like this, has got to be the best gift a man could ever give to a woman... to declare his love, with honest words filled with emotion, taking a chance by baring his heart to the world, with the music in his soul...and that is what writing the perfect love song is all about in my book.

This has a place in MY Heart and on my hard drive :D ....

Kudos to you Gerry and Lee.

That is one beautiful arrangement. The setting brings out the best in your voice. Has a Phil Spector wall of sound feel to it. I miss the lead guitar though from the other version. You should try to get DavidK to do some violin tracks for it. I'd bring up the tambourine a little and lower the rhythm gtr a tiny bit.

Edit: some other ideas that occur to me... I'd avoid the artificial sax (wait, it's harmonica I think) right at the beginning phrase. Maybe replace it with some organ. Bring up the organ a bit as it sounds really good, and bring up the piano a little more.

Quite kind of you to say Gerry. We can all thank you for baking this wonderful cake in the first place and creating a "place to go"....in our hearts. You are the chef, Gerry. I just clarified the original mix a bit and added some icing. I wonder what I could have done with some experience. I probably have done a total of 5 collaborations at the most in 5 years. Too much fun for words. I hate people as talented as you! :p
