Your right Fangar. I've always tried to listen to differant types of music. My current fav is swing, Glen Miller, Count Basie and some of the mordern stuff too like Cherry Poping Daddys.

For what I can see you're a blues oriented player. Sometimes you don't have to learn new "licks" but to get away from them a little. For example, some cool stuff from a lot of great blues players is just playing a single note or bending it a little. Remember that in blues, a bend or a hammer-on can be very emotional and most of all, varied.

Try mixing the major scale with the pentatonic and try to use modes when they sound good to you.

You're right flapo1, I am mostly a blues player and looking at new scales and modes sounds like a good idea.
