Ok,I am using a Sampler Program to create some Drumbeats for this solo Project I'm working on.I didn't know what was wrong, but when I attemped to Import the .wav File the DP-02 didn't see it.I Dragged it into the Folder on the PC and it showed that it was there on the PC Screen, but the DP-02 didn't recognize it.
I called Tech Support and Alas I found out The DP-02 apparently can only Import MONO .wav Files. My Drum Software only exports Stereo .wav files or any other Kind of file for that matter(.mp3,etc.).
So I was stuck. How was I going to do it.After Googling some Ideas I came to a Thread where someone had the same problem and the response to him was to us Audacity to "Split" the Stereo Track and make it Mono.I tried that and I guess it worked as far as Splitting it.I haven't tried to Import it since,we had to stop working that day.
So I hope that is the Solution.
But here is the Problem:What If I made a Killer Drum Track that had some of the Drum Kit Pieces Separated and/or panned into different Stereo Positions and I wanted that Sound?I guess if you make it Mono that would be Impossible. That Kind of really sucks but to tell the truth it is really only a drum Track we're talking about and it doesn't have to sound Like It was Done Live in A Studio (which I thought the DP-02 was gonna replace!!).
So I have Considered something else and I wonder if this will work.
What If I did Export and/or Save the STEREO File (the Drum Track) to the PC,
and then try to run the SoundCard output L/R into Both Inputs on the DP-02 (of course Recording 2 Tracks Simultaneously)and Play it on the PC while Rcording those 2 Tracks Live into 2 Inputs assigned to 2 Channels?
Wouldn't that give me a Stereo Mix of the Drum Tracks?I mean the Left Side or Channel would be on Track 1 and the Right Channel would be on Track 2 if I am correct. Then,I could Bounce those down to a Single Stereo Track and then Record the Instruments or even leave them seperate (because I have 8 Tracks to use without Bouncing).
Do you think that would work?I mean It sounds like it would be tedious and Time Consuming but it would be cool if I had to have a Stereo Drum Track.
BTW,I am new to this machine..I only know the Basic Functions and I have had it for like 6 onths but we haven't used it really.
One of My main Concerns is how you would be careful getting those signals into the DP-02 Safely.I know you can control the Input on the Board.I would think it would be Safe because the Line Out from the PC is not a speaker out so it is just a Signal. What I am trying to avoid is overloading the Input and Blowing it.
Another thought:I could also record the Stereo Drum Track and Burn it to a CD and Run the Output of the CD Player (L/R out) into the 2 Channels. That would be a stait Signal.
his sounds like it would work but I would like to get some Feedback and/or Opinions on this before I proceed. My DP-02 was pretty Expensive and I need it..I love it and I can't replace it so I have to be CAREFUL!!
Thanks a lot.I look foreward to any help froma anyone.
