Mixing and Mastering.
I am wanting to know if it is safe to take a line out (output you connect to speaker cab) straight from a guitar amp head into a mixing desk.

Please no fooling if anyone knows it can cause serious damage as im working with expensive equipment here.

Cheers.

A true line out (-10 dBm) signal can be connected to a mixer line in jack.

A signal that is meant to go to a speaker cab is not a line out, in fact it's potentially much hotter and I suspect it could damage a mixer line input. In addition, impedance is an issue. The guitar cab signal is designed to drive a ~4 to 8 ohm load and a mixer line input has a higher impedance. This might not be a big issue but it could possibly induce some mild distortion.

The back of most guitar amps have a line output and a power amp input. Use this line out to go to your mixer board. DO NOT use the speaker output.

Cheers alot. You could have saved me from a hell of a mess.
