Important acoustic issues to consider with new recording room?

I have been working my way towards setting up a nice little home recording studio centered around a DAW recording set-up. The process of adding a couple of rooms onto my house will open up a very nice large room that I am going to use as a recording studio. The room is app. 25' x 25' with a peaked ceiling that tops out at app. 17'. A small indentation (app. 10' x 6' precedes the doorway to the room. It has six small casement windows around the room that I will probably be replacing with glass block. It is a half-underground rear portion of the house with cement floor covered with rubber pad/commercial carpet. The recording gear will be in an attached small room that will act as a 'control room'. Sound insulation is not a concern in this situation, but internal room acoustic treatment is. Without going to extravagant ends, what primary issues would folks suggest that I address? Thanks in advance for tips and starting point suggestions!

Having a square 25x25 shape means you'll have double resonances at 22.6 Hz and all multiples. So plan on plenty of bass trapping. The good news is that's a large room, and large is always better.

Thanks Ethan...I will definitely be browsing through your very informative site in detail. My room is actually not square and, in fact, I was just calculating based on my memory of measuring it at one point quite some time back. Turns out it's more like 20.5'x17', although the actual space of the whole room is more like 20.5'x19.25' with the majority of those 2.25' on one side being cut into by two closet spaces that protrude into the room on either side of the door. To make it even a little more complicated, the closets do not actually touch the ceiling due to the fact that it's a high ceiling sloping towards a peak at the center. This creates an odd triangular shaped space above each of these closets and yet something else to account for. Three of the main walls are also uneven in that a ledge circles 3/4 of the room with the bottom half of the wall being even with the front of the ledge and the upper half of the wall extending to the ceiling recessed app. 6". Kind of a complicated room! I'll be using your site and other sources of info to try and gauge what I should do and I may even try to find someone who I could hire to come in for a bit and give me a 'consultation' if there is such a person in my area.
