How important is a preamp from my guitar into my Delta 66?

its part of getting a good sound. plus the delta 66 isnt powered so just plugging a sm57 into it wont get a very good volume level

i use a solid body gibson chet atkins sst and use the installed fishman pickup. So mic needed.

a decent pre amp doesnt cost that much...i use the UB802 which costs $49. granted its not the best small mixer but it was a huge difference in sound. didnt have to mess with the eq too much but it was useful when it came to vocals. people will tell you to get the yamaha MG10 which is $99. i dont use anything special. fender squire strat, boss Gt-6, peavey 100w head and a behringer 4x12 cab.
